The Bank of Monroe offers several choices in personal checking accounts to meet your everyday banking needs and simplify your finances.

Regular Checking Account
  • This is our most popular checking account due to the following features:
    • No minimum balance required
    • No monthly service charge
    • No service charge on number of checks written
    • Minimum balance to open the account: $100.00

NOW Checking Account
  • Minimum balance to open the account: $1,200.00
  • Rate Information: Interest rate and annual percentage yield may change
  • Transaction Limitations: No transaction limitations
  • Service Charge: $5.00 if balance falls below $1,200.00 any day in statement cycle

Money Market Deposit Account
  • Minimum balance to open the account: $1,200.00
  • Rate Information: Interest rate and annual percentage yield may change
  • Transaction Limitations: Maximum of 6 withdrawals or transfers per month, no more than three by check, draft, or similar order to third parties.
  • Service Charge: $5.00 if balance falls below $1,200.00 any day in statement cycle

SAVINGS

Savings Passbook Account

The Bank of Monroe’s Savings Passbook Account makes it easy and convenient to build your funds. This account provides maximum flexibility to help you meet your short-term savings needs.

  • Minimum balance to open the account: $10.00
  • Rate Information: Interest rate and annual percentage yield may change
  • Transaction Limitations: You may make an unlimited number of deposits into your account.
  • Service Charge: None
  • Limitations on Frequency of transfers: During any calendar month, you may not make more than six withdrawals or transfers to another account of yours or to a third party by means of a preauthorized or automatic transfer or telephone order or instruction, or by check, draft, debit card or similar order to a third party.  If you exceed the transfer limitations set forth above in any statement period, your account will be subject to closure by the financial institution.

Christmas Club Account

Saving for those Holiday expenses, The Bank of Monroe has the account to help you do just that.

  • Minimum balance to open the account: $10.00
  • Rate Information: Interest rate is fixed for at least 30 days.
  • Interest Paid: All interest will be paid at the end of the time period
  • Time Period: October through September
  • Transaction Limitations: No Debit transactions allowed
  • Service Charge: None
  • Early Withdrawal: Interest will be forfeited if closed before the end of the time period

CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT

The Bank of Monroe’s Certificate of Deposits (CD) offers a secure investment with a guaranteed rate of return. You may select a fixed-rate certificate of deposit from the following maturity ranges:

  • Minimum balance to open the account: $500.00
  • Rate Information: Interest Rate will be fixed for the term of CD.
  • Transaction Limitations: No transactions allowed
  • Early Withdrawal: A penalty will be assessed for early withdrawal.

Certificate of Deposits are Automatically Renewed at the current rate at time of maturity. A notice of maturity will be sent to you 10 days prior to maturity to notify you of the interest rate which the Certificate will renew at. To prevent the Certificate from renewing automatically, you will need to withdraw the funds at maturity or you have a 10 day grace period after maturity without penalty.

There are certain circumstances, such as the death or incompetence of an owner, where we may waive or reduce this penalty.

INDIVIDUAL RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS (IRA)

  • Minimum opening balance: $100.00
  • Rate Information: Interest Rate will be fixed for the term of the IRA
  • Transaction Limitations: No transactions allowed
  • Early Withdrawal: *Tax penalty may apply; Please check with your tax advisor

Individual Retirement Accounts are Automatically Renewed at the current rate at the time of maturity. DEBIT CARDS

Leave your checkbook at home with The Bank of Monroe's Debit Card. With The Bank of Monroe's debit card, you can use it to make purchases anywhere you see the Visa symbol or to make purchases through the mail, over the telephone or through the internet. This card also gives you the benefits and advantages of an ATM card, it allows you 24-hour access to your account(s) to make cash withdrawals, transfer funds between The Bank of Monroe accounts, and check your account balances.

Debit Cards are issued to Customers with Checking Accounts and can be linked to your Saving Account.

There are no charges for using the Debit Cards at one of The Bank of Monroe’s ATM. Other banks may impose a surcharge at their ATMs.

There is a $10.00 annual fee for each Debit Card issued.
